Delta Gamma

Eta Nu Chapter at Hofstra University

Philanthropy Events

Eta Nu is constantly participating in philanthropic endeavors as we believe that community service contributes to the overall solidarity of society.

The chapter currently holds two annual fundraisers, Anchor Cup and Anchor Splash. All proceeds for both events go towards our philanthropy, Service for Sight. The chapter also does philanthropic work apart from the annual fundraisers. Here's a brief description of some of the work that we do:

Anchor Cup

Held in the fall, Anchor Cup is a soccer tournament in which all organizations are invited to participate in. This past Anchor Cup, the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon won 1st place!

Anchor Splash

Held the spring, Anchor Splash is a day of fun water-related activites in which the fraternities compete for 1st place. Each team competes in water relays and learns a dance routine (that is both in and out of the water) which is choreographed by their assigned Delta Gamma coaches. There is also a Most Beautiful Eyes contest and a number of raffles that the audience can buy tickets for.

Golden Anchor Program

Always a heart-warming experience, the chapter has a monthly Golden Anchor Program in which sisters visit the local nursing home to play games with the senior citizens. The energetic response the sisters receive from the elderly men and women makes for a happy atmosphere and an overall memorable day.

The Long Island Bombers

The chapter has recently forged a close relationship with The Long Island Bombers, a beep baseball team consisting of blind and visually impaired players. The chapter plays games with the team (the Bombers are way better than us!) and always have a great time. Eta Nu has also assisted the Bombers with events, such as helping teach children how to blay beepball at local middle schools. More information about the Bombers can be found at their website: http://www.libombers.org/
